Bets on a good night at Palmy’s ball paid off
Palmy students traded lecture notes for poker chips as the Casino-Royale ball made its debut — and the odds of a good night were definitely in their favour.
After a three-year ball hiatus, clubs and events lead Ryan Oliver said he wasn’t sure what to expect. But with 120 students turning up on October 4th, it’s safe to say the gamble paid off.
The casino royale themed night saw students glammed up to the nines – all sparkles, suits and razzle dazzle. Poker tables were set up for students to have a go at playing their hand, and the ball committee aced the décor.
Luckily no one bet their life away, with Ryan saying all students were incredibly sensible.
“Those who attended had a great time and had nothing but positive things to say as they were leaving.”
It’s safe to say the décor team did their job a little too well, with students asking if they could take some home with them.
“It’s quite the experience having to explain that it might not be a great idea to carry off a giant dice block,” Ryan said.
The Palmy ball committee went all in on a good time — and the students didn’t fold.
