Wellington’s very own Fashion Week is gearing up to hit the capital April 18th – 22nd. The main events will take place at Massey University’s Great Hall, with other pop up events happening around the city.
As well as the high-fashion trade shows, the event will be running in conjunction with the inaugural Wellington Young Designer Awards which is an opportunity to show case the up-and-coming design talent from our very own city.
Wellington Fashion Week Creative Director, Cameron Sneddon sees the event as a platform for exposing the talent of both Wellington designers and those from across the country. “Wellington Fashion Week has been created for designers in all stage of business progression – right from emerging designers to those already well-established and seeking the next level of exposure for their brand.”
New Zealand’s favourite designers were quick to jump on board with the event, giving it the credit as one of the must-see fashion events of the year. The designer line-up boosts the house-hold names of Moochi, Starfish, Julian Danger, Taylor and many more. Involvement for event has not just come from designers, major supporters include; Museum Art Hotel, The Edge, Armstrong Prestige Audi and Massey University.
Creative Director Sneddon, started out with a small styling company based in Wellington. He quickly recognised a large gap in the industry within Wellington. “We have so many creative talents who deserve the opportunity to gain exposure and establish their brand.”
The event should bring a lot of positive interest and excitement to the Wellington fashion industry and be an opportunity to put spotlight on local Wellington designer talent. With a VIP list of fashion favourites signing on for the event growing daily, Wellington Fashion Week is striving to get a standing ovation.
