Welcome to 2018

Massive has a brand new logo to kick off 2018.

Kia ora everyone I hope you all had a wonderful summer break and you are ready to get stuck into another year of university. For some it will be your very first year and for others it could your last!

Whichever way it is, my name is Nikki and I am the Managing Editor of Massive Magazine, Massey University’s very own student media.

Massive Magazine is an extra special kind of student magazine, because Massey University is a little different to most. Here at Massive we write and produce THREE different magazines, packed to the brim full of content tailored specifically for Massey’s three campuses – Albany, Manawatu and Wellington. All you distance students don’t despair, you can jump on our website or app and keep up-to-date with all things relevant too.

While you have been no doubt sunning it up over the most scorching summer we’ve had here in Aotearoa the team at Massive Magazine has been busy as bees at the magazine’s Wellington office, buzzing about (while trying not to melt in the heat) and working hard to prepare the magazine for 2018.

This year there will be some exciting new changes to Massive Magazine that we can’t wait to share with our readers, new and old. The most obvious change is that we have switched up our logo! We also have a whole lot of new content that we are sure you are going to really enjoy.

One thing Massive is always on the lookout for is helping hands. Whether the sight of bad grammar makes your stomach flip, you pen poetry in your spare time or you love to tell stories through your writing Massive wants you and that’s no lie.

When I was at university I was always far too nervous and shy to get involved with student media – so as Managing Editor of Massive Magazine one of my main goals has been to make sure everyone feels comfortable enough to put their hand up and help with something they are passionate about. Many of Massive’s former contributors have gone on to have stellar careers in journalism and broadcasting. So, if you see yourself as the future Mike McRoberts writing for Massive Magazine is a great place to start.

There may be some of you who don’t like the idea of picking up this mag in print, but don’t worry. You can also head to our website, where you will find the magazine’s content online. What else is really cool is the magazine’s very own app which is regularly updated and full of news, satire and features for you to peruse.

Remember we are keen to hear your ideas, this is YOUR magazine, a fortnightly joint which we hope will make your time here at university a little more colourful.

Anyone who wants to contribute, or has an idea to share, please! Get in touch!

Talk soon,

Nikki
