Students asked to make Massey their own

Students have an exciting opportunity to let their creative juices flow in an upcoming love your campus event.

From June 25 to 29, senior lecturer from the College of Creative Arts, Euan Robertson, will facilitate a week-long project to help students spruce up their campus.

Robertson says he has noticed that students and staff don’t engage with or notice different spaces within the Massey Wellington campus. He says often everyone fails to see the unique stories and history behind the way each space was used both in the past and present.

Robertson says he was interested in seeing what ideas students could come up with to make campus spaces more fun and from there, the idea for his ‘love your campus’ project came about.

“We need to look where we work, live and inhabit through different lenses,” he says.

He says ‘love your campus’ will aim to help students appreciate different areas on campus by thinking up new, fun ideas to fill these spaces.

“Space is so important to us. We should appreciate space and look around,” says Robertson.

He says the event is open to all students and will be far from the traditional classroom style of interacting and work shopping.

The first day of the event will see students participate in creative workshops to identify campus spaces. The next few days will be focused on making an idea of their choice come to life within their different groups.

At the end of the busy week, the product of their ideas will be showcased with some exciting prizes to be won.

He says anyone can be creative and encourages students to get on board and re-imagine how our campus spaces can look.
