A new residential hall for students at Massey’s Wellington campus is set to open early next year.
In a statement released late last month, Campus Registrar Deanna Riach announced the university had acquired the lease to a 160-bed accommodation complex, currently operating as Taranaki 217, adjacent to the Wellington campus.
“We will take over management of the complex from the middle of January, next year,” she says.
“Accommodation halls play an important role in helping first year students transition into university life, so we are pleased the campus now has more accommodation options.”
Taranaki 217 comprises of 120 single and 20 twin-share rooms with ensuites, communal lounges and kitchens, says Riach.
Riach says it is expected the majority of students will be in their first year, however applications will be accepted from second-year students.
Students attending Massey’s Wellington campus can currently enrol to stay at The Cube (which is located opposite Taranaki 217) and 222 Willis.
Riach says there has been increasing demand for student accommodation in recent years with both residential halls oversubscribed at the start of this year.
